Cast Trailer Rental FAQ
Rates, power, towing, insurance and everything else producers ask us before they book. If your question is not here, send it over.
How much does a cast trailer rental cost?
Trailers are priced per week, per trailer, with a one-week minimum. The 5-room is slightly more per week than the 3-room, and there is a combined rate if you take both. Multi-week bookings get a better weekly rate, which is why we quote rather than publish a rate card. Send us the trailer, the dates and the location and we come back with a firm number, usually within one business day.
What is the minimum rental period?
One week. Anything longer is priced better per week, so tell us the full run of the shoot when you ask for a quote.
How far in advance should I book?
It depends on availability, but a week’s notice is the minimum we need. If your dates are locked, book earlier.
Do you take a deposit?
A 20% deposit secures the booking for productions that do not already have an account with us.
Where are the trailers based, and do you deliver?
Burk’s Falls, Ontario, on Highway 11. Production can pick the trailers up and return them, or we can deliver. Depending on the total number of rental weeks, delivery to your first location and pickup at the end of the shoot can be included at no charge. We service all of Northern Ontario and the GTA.
What power do the trailers need?
Very little, and nothing exotic. Each trailer is ESA certified with a single 4-pin 30A twist-lock inlet. The 5-room draws 3000W and runs off two household 20A circuits through the adapter box we supply; the 3-room draws 2000W and runs off one, through a cable adapter. Both are Dief box compatible. No five-wire connection, no generator operator, no big genny on the call sheet. Full detail and diagrams on the specs page.
Do you rent a generator?
Yes. Our 10kW generator is an add-on item and will run both trailers at the same time.
What is in each room?
A 110V AC outlet, its own low-power heater or air conditioner depending on the season, furniture, a mirror, and decoration chosen room by room. The idea is a room that feels like somewhere to spend the day rather than the bare cell you get in a standard multi-room trailer.
How many rooms are there?
Two trailers: a 3-room and a 5-room. Every room is private with its own door and its own climate control. Take one trailer or both.
Are there washrooms?
No. These are strictly dry units with no plumbing. That is deliberate: it keeps the weight, the complexity and the cost down, and it is why a pickup can tow them.
Will they work in a Canadian winter?
Yes. Each room has a 500W wall-mount heater which, with the insulation, is normally enough to keep the room warm with sub-zero temperatures outside. If you are shooting in extreme cold, call us and we will talk through the specifics before you book.
What do I need to tow them?
A standard three-quarter-ton pickup. The trailers are lightweight aluminum and no special licence is required.
What does production need to provide?
Power, and cleaning of the trailers during the shoot. That is it.
What insurance do you require?
Standard production insurance covering the trailers while they are in your possession. Indie Trailers must be named as additional insured, and the coverage has to be sufficient for the replacement value of the trailers.
Which areas do you serve?
All of Northern Ontario, including North Bay, Sudbury, Huntsville and Parry Sound, plus Toronto and the GTA.
